Informative, but raises questions about Switzerland as an expat destination
I appreciate this podcast and have learned a lot from it. I'm an American software professional with a half-European heritage who speaks German and French and travels frequently to Switzerland. The May 8, 2024 episode on IT training, and some other past episodes, do remind me how rigid Switzerland's employment market is, compared to ours in the USA, where we have the practical freedom to change jobs frequently in search of higher pay and greater responsibility, and where we place a greater emphasis on demonstrated ability than on formal, on-paper qualifications. I'd like episodes about startups and small businesses in Switzerland, as well as interviews with other educated, non-white, non-native-Swiss professionals, about their experiences integrating into Swiss companies and Swiss society. Switzerland is a lovely country to visit but I know it doesn't offer the same fluid employment market for top performers in my field, and I would worry that it doesn't offer much for non-white professionals, either.Read full review »
