I really like the historical podcast and you really put things in perspective for our modern ears! You made correction to Boone actually being a slave owner. I was disappointed as well to hear that news, however more context on what could have surrounded this development would be helpful. He had...Read full review »

So much can be learned from how worlds meet. I’ve spent hours on long car rides listening to the balanced delivery of the tales of so many explorers. Series suggestion: David Livingstone.

I started listening to this podcast bc I’m fascinated by Spanish conquistadores. I wanted to stick to that subject but I found that other podcasts didn’t offer a quality experience, even if it was a subject I loved. So I came back to this podcast and listened to any and every subject, even if...Read full review »

I’ve listened to almost all the episodes. Suggestion for a topic: Francisco Pizarro! Maybe that’s in the works already, but think he’s obviously worth the dive into

Matt, you apologize profusely for not discovering that Daniel Boone was a slave holder in the earlier episodes, and admit that it really lowers your opinion of him now that you know about it, but you never apologize for not mentioning that the Shawnee Indians were also slave holders, as were many...Read full review »

I started listening to The Explorers Podcast to help me sleep but the podcast instead made me sit up and got me wide awake. It is inspiring and helps me keep going. It makes one stand up and try to live life and achieve seemingly impossible and daunting stuff just like the Explorers did. Thanks a...Read full review »

I love these history Podcasts, well written and delivered. Just the right amount of detail and suitably dispassionate and not overly judgemental of people who lived in such different times. On an amusing note the pronunciation of "warrior" in many episodes sounds to my ear as...Read full review »

Brilliant pods. The humble way it’s presented only adds to the package. No preaching but pure joy in sharing knowledge and research. I only wish there were more but the amount of research must take time and it’s worth the wait. More time for me to relisten to past episodes. Thanks and keep up...Read full review »

I’ve been enjoying this podcast so much since discovering it about a week ago. It’s so interesting, and the resources on the podcast website – such as maps – really round out the learning experience!

Started with the Magellan series which was excellent and Lewis/Clark kept to that standard! The Shackleton series was fantastic. Fills in the very general awareness i had without getting too deep in the weeds of detail or controversy, which is acknowledged when needed.

I look forward to an episode every week. Fantastic host and compelling storytelling. When I run out of new episodes to listen to, I just re-listen to older ones — this is the only podcast I do this with.

I’m loving this podcast. Research, writing, pace, all great, and enough historical context to set a scene without ever losing the main thread. Very well thought out and presented. Lewis and Clark section, brilliant, thank you.

I enjoy the fact the presenter isn’t trying to promote himself - just the subject that’s his passion. An excellent podcast revealing new aspects of often well known history through the prism of exploration.

Love hearing stories of these people who bravely explored the world; in the cases of Humboldt and Stark their motives were simply to enlighten, not to exploit. Very cool.
