“Another great topic. This is a topic that I feel we will never get bored of discussing for the simple fact that there were so many unanswered questions surrounding the whole 'event'.
I mean, why was it even allowed to get to the stage that it had?
Why were the police not trying harder to prevent the whole situation from spreading across the country and worsening? Scrap that! Why were the police seeming to not do their job? Was it because many were not actually bothered as they were angry at the Government? You know that could be understandable as many were undergoing severe pay cuts, job loss, redundancies...... Would you want to do your job feeling the resentment that they must have? I called the police on one occasion stating that an independent store was currently being broken into. They had several police right outside of where it was happening. Why were they not trying to stop these misfits?
So the whole scenario began because of transatlantic affairs. So they say. No. I believe that they were mindless hooligans who were just opportunists and were out for what they could get. Looting, Vandalizing, Hooliganism. People had to loose their life before these riots were taken seriously amongst the Government. That is a real shame. Like what was said, if Downing Street was being attacked I am pretty sure they would have been able to ship that big 'ol water blaster over to Engalnd quick smart. Hell! They may have been able to dust off one of the ones in storage.
I watched the Jonathan Ross show a couple of weeks ago, he had a guest appearance from Plan B. Serious guy, seems to have a lot to say, sensible things. He stated something along the lines of the children these days are shown no love at home, they feel worthless and so enter these streets feeling worthless. Lost. So they do wrong. Maybe it's a cry for attention. But I think that there are too many excuses. Everybody knows wrong from right. A lot of it should be taught at home. Morals should be embedded. But they are not. However, there were a lot of 'adults' out there during the riots, some parents themselves causing such fiasco. How can their spawn learn when they are set this terrible example? Why would these people want to destroy their country? Cities? Livelihood? Other peoples livelihood?
It is an utter disgrace and I believe that there is no excuse for their disgusting and disrespectful behaviour. And there is no excuse for why the riots even had the chance to make it into our recent history as riots.”Read full review »
