Fascinating story shame about this podcast
I’ve stuck with this up to episode 4 because some of the insight is genuinely interesting and brings something new. Unfortunately the production is a shambles. Ominous music is played constantly, obscuring the speakers, Dimbleby spends more time telling us what we will hear later in the programme than actually telling the story and most egregiously the narration switches from the past to the present tense, sometimes within the same sentence. The makers clearly think this makes the tale livelier and more dynamic. They are wrong, it simply renders things imprecise and confusing. If this podcast had trusted in the material and allowed Dimbleby to talk uninterrupted and without affectation for the full duration this would have been a 5 star review.

This is the exact podcast I’ve been looking for. When we went to war I was only in middle school, so getting factual information now is imperative to my growth
