I love this show, and it’s my essential listen to and from, my drive to work. The only thing that lets it down is the needless and ridiculous swearing by Robbie, spoils a normally interesting and enjoyable podcast.

If you like war films then this is the pod for you. Matt and Robbie are excellent hosts who not only know their stuff but are also funny and informative. Often they have guests on who are always interesting and provide another fresh perspective. Highly recommended.

Really enjoy the podcast. Very informative about the movie & the weapons & gear.

Listen regularly but alway annoyed by inaccurate reading of names e.g the Odin Line - it’s Onedin Line or George Jackson the actor. - Gordon Jackson one of our finest actors. I have no problem with swearing but one of the presenters can hardly complete a sentence with the F word. Another podcast...Read full review »

A nice fusion, the guys know their cinema and their “Ally Tally”. When I found it, it went straight to the top of my ‘must listen’ list. If watching an old favourite film that they have covered I would recommend a listen before re-watching AND after. I met the guys at the We Have Ways festival...Read full review »

I have only started listening to this podcast this year. This has opened up new films for me to watch and find that I enjoy (even the ones that get a slightly less that good review in podcast) the films a lot more due to the information that come via this podcast.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for some time now and I find myself looking forward to it above anything else I regularly listen to. Robbie and Matthew are two enthusiastic guides to the world of war movies- they know their stuff, but they wear their knowledge lightly so the show never feels...Read full review »

A top podcast written by nerds for nerds. Thoroughly entertaining.

Great, not manic and an eclectic selection of films. Good homework!

Love to hear other tales on my favorite war films and to learn about quite a few that are new to me.

The problem with war films is explaining how movies work to the war nerds and war to the movie nerds. This lot don’t see to understand either particularly well but try to make up for it by snarking about the wrong model Lee Enfield in a particular shot. Their whiny voices don’t help either.

Loving it after one episode. Hoping to see my favourite the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles cover. Some of the best WWI scenes around.

I started listening to the episode Band of brothers: replacements. I was very disappointed. It’s as if the hosts are having a chat about something they watched years ago without freshening up on it or doing any subsidiary research. The result is you get 2 idiots who don’t know what they’re...Read full review »

Recently discovered the podcast, I’m a classic movie junkie and love old war movies and westerns. Very entertaining and great range of films covered so far. Actually have put me on to some I have not seen before, this podcast may be bad for the wallet as I’ve already ordered 3 dvds as a result 😁

Loved the Memphis Belle episode, one of the few films discussed that I remember seeing in the cinema when it first came out in 1990. Agree with the comments about the letters scene with David Strathairn and John Lithgow, very powerful. Keep up the good work lads.

Really enjoying this pod. I like war movies, but didn't know the difference between an AK-47 and a T-34. However, the hosts are so enthusiastic and good humoured I am now able to bore my family with details of whether the film uses the correct scopes on rifles, or if the director thought you...Read full review »

War movies are an interesting genre and few subjects bring about as many emotions from veterans and civilians alike. This podcast covers some classics and some forgotten films, and examine not just the movies as a whole but with an expert’s eye towards the equipment and tactics. Some of the most...Read full review »

Just recently subscribed to this series and enjoying it immensely. Irreverent but knowledgeable presenters dissecting the war movie genre. Bonus points for taking on some lesser known titles but I’ve no doubt the lure of critiquing some big budget efforts will strike sooner or later as there’s no...Read full review »

Robbie and Matthew are two historical firearms experts as well as avid film enthusiasts. They have an expansive view on that much-abused subgenera: the war movie. Many cultural studies on war films discuss the whys and wherefores of fictionalizing or popularizing war in TV and film, but they...Read full review »
