I feel like I’m missing something
After reading about this podcast on a list of great outdoor podcasts you’re missing, I subscribed, and to be fair, I’m only about 10 episodes in, but I cannot understand why people love this podcast?! I find the female host in particular to have the most annoying pattern and tone to her voice - I feel like I am being spoken to like a child. Not to mention some of their advice is so, so preachy. For example, in one of their first episodes about things you just don’t need to bring with you backpacking in order to keep your pack weight down, they site coffee as an example, but their reason is that you should just get yourself off coffee because it’s a stimulant that you just don’t need. Really? That’s why I shouldn’t bring it? That’s your reasoning for why I shouldn’t add it to my weight? Give me a break. That is not about backpacking advice and more about your personal beliefs about coffee. And yet they have no problem telling me to go to some Chinese version of amazon to buy things on the cheap, even after they admit the quality is bad? So I shouldn’t drink coffee, but I should go to some Chinese website to buy crap gear? It just makes no sense. I am giving this two stars because the podcast has been on for quite a while now and maybe it gets better as time goes on, but honestly, 10 episodes in I am astounded that this makes a “best of” list for outdoor podcasts.

They also deliver great product information, hiking tips and ideas, and hacks for the rest of us. The Legler’s, Heather and Josh, share their experiences in their short podcast format in a way that’s both interesting and entertaining. Not sure if it’s ironic but I listen to them while hiking,...Read full review »
