A safe place for heretics and atheists
Being raised as a pastors son, I was taught to obey like a good boy and honor authority . Which is good, but The subtle deception was not to question my dad or American Christianity because Christianity is the truth , my dad know what God says because of his degrees in seminary , and hell is where you go if you don't fall in line and just belief and act like them. The fear to venture out and become your own person was to me, very similar to someone of Islam or Hindu converting to another religion... Questioning modern Christian thinking is a lonely path, and will surely be somewhat hell, because your alone among family and former friends who believe you're on the wrong path to destruction and you somewhat believe what they say, because of the fear of hell, fear of losing community , fear of a world you're unfamiliar with, because the boxed-in belief system that doesn't allow any other views doesn't allow you to discover and question. I'm on a journey now leaving the church , questioning a god out there or wherever , and if you asked me what I believe I would tell you I'm still figuring that out. I enjoy Joshua Tongol podcast because he understands the struggles and experience of Christians who are questioning tradition , former Christians who don't know how to live outside of their religion, and other faiths who have a common goal for a united cause of peace and dialogue . He understand the struggle and emotional torment one goes through after leaving a faith and questioning what their parents taught them. He shares a common bond with the normal human being as we discover truth together and dialogue with one another , without judgment and division . His podcasts center around faith and spirituality that all faiths can relate to and get something from, and Joshua does a wonderful job weighing all perspectives and seeks to come to a peaceful conclusion and opens the door for others to be okay to question everything and be okay with it. This is a safe place for heretics and atheists , former Christians and even those who don't fit a label like myself, just want to live in joy and peace in the world, searching for life and community outside of family tradition and religious labeling .
