Description
It’s the final episode of the season! Coeliac disease (CD) warrants its own episode where Sandra and Wagdy delve into this often overlooked issue, which is an autoimmune disorder triggered by gluten consumption. In today’s episode, Wagdy walks the pod listener through why this condition is frequently underdiagnosed and why it warrants more awareness, particularly among the medical community.  Can conditions such as anxiety, ADHD and infertility actually be CD that is undiagnosed?  Symptoms of coeliac disease can overlap with other conditions but what makes Wagdy lean towards screening for CD? Both Sandra and Wagdy talk about common symptoms they’ve seen in clinic that led to them pursue testing for CD and highlight the importance of the right diagnostic tools and how to obtain an accurate diagnosis without the risk of false negatives. Sandra then emphasizes the 3 crucial nutritional modifications that have to be made to promote intestinal healing and to avoid nutrient deficiencies. She also lists the most common nutrients that need to be monitored in case of malabsorption.  As they wrap up their first season, Sandra and Wagdy would love to hear from you!
