Interesting...Very Interesting
Since discovering the podcast from a recommendation, I have eagerly consumed every episode. I have to say that I genuinely loved the first season, as it presented a very unfiltered and natural discussion between the hosts. HOWEVER...over the last couple of months, I have recognised a significant shift in the communication. It seems incredibly produced and forced. I understand that in interview situations, following an outline is necessary to navigate the conversation, but even between the hosts, it seems staged. I’m unsure if this is due to appealing to advertisers, hence, having to “water down” certain aspects.I used to love the unabashedly real perspective, especially on topics relating to Gender and Sexual Minorities and the relation to mental health. Hearing Luke give advice on issues that he seemingly has no informed opinion on doesn’t sit easily with me. Just because you manage a Practise doesn’t justify unsolicited advice. Just because you clean toilets at NASA doesn’t make you an astronaut. Thomas Jaspers seemingly ambivalent persona as the self proclaimed resident “tired old queen” perpetuates the uniformed stupidity. Noteworthy examples “If you don’t vote for Labour, your a c**t!”....I mean really? I have similar political biases, but the sheer audacity and obnoxiousness is vile. The demeaning attitude towards Kyle is unnecessary. This idea if him being the “naive twink” is pathetic and has irritated me form day one. Just because you can’t recite the entirety of Liza Minelli’s role in Cabaret and dress up as a geriatric senior citizen doesn’t make you any less worth. All in all, I think this is one of the better podcasts, and I know it seems pathetic complaining about how the show is slightly forced, while simultaneously complaining about the ill considered points of conversation. I think that with so many different perspectives existing on one show, things can be convoluted.

I stumbled across this after finding granny bingo wireless. It’s very different but still very enjoyable. I did have an accident on the treadmill while listening to this podcast it is very funny!

A big fan of the show, listen every week. But there is one thing that grates me a little Luke gives psych advise, as if he is a practitioner.... not the practise manager. Be careful with the “I work in a psych practise” line. It’s misleading and borders into dangerous territory
