“I know what it takes to run a podcast on your own. GG is a breath of fresh air in the genealogy category, and should be commended for the variety of topics and the positive encouragement provided to listeners.
I disagree with one reviewer who derided Lisa for using the term "God" in her podcast. He/she felt that most genealogists do not believe in God. I imagine that genealogists aren't all that different compared to the general population where a majority believe in a higher power of some sort.
Also, your podcast isn't a born-again podcast - it is a genealogy podcast. You don't mention God an inordinate amount of time. In fact, I can barely recall where you have, Lisa. Be that as it may, it is hard to exclude one's basic belief system when speaking. If that reviewer doesn't like your style of speaking, he can chose not to download it.
His premise is about as weird as stating categorically that most genealogists don't like rock music or country music (or whatever). Well, we don't all sit around in damask-covered Chippendale wing chairs, peering at cryptic documents through gold-rimmed bi-focals while the butler adds another log to the fire. Some of us are hikers, some are bikers. Some are walkers, others use walkers. But ALL have a love of family history and care to preserve it.
If I want to listen to rock music, I download the music. If I don't, I won't. The same goes for genealogy podcasts. If I don't want to listen to one on Irish research this week, then I won't download it.
So Lisa, keep on podcasting, and don't let that person stiffle your voice. You have a great spirit, and your audience LOVES listening to each episode! I particularly like the one about chocolate -- call me silly!
Happy family tree climbing!

“My name is Kathy and I'm a genealogy gems junkie. Lisa's podcasts have helped me clean my garage, can apples and cancel my subscription to Audible. Who has time for books when there is sooo much news from Lisa. More importantly, they have provided a wealth of genealogical information...”Read full review »
