Not a bad start, but why be mean?
Well, I have generally liked Mike Pesca on NPR and other Slate podcasts. He has an interesting point of view, is usually funny, and is always insightful. On the first episode of The Gist, he is in good form, though still working out what his new show is like. But then, in his discussion on the recent Supreme Court case regarding prayer in Greece, NY, he makes these mocking comments towards the Wiccan religion. Come now, Mike--why take pot-shots at a minority religion? Why be mean? If that is what you do while solo, I'll have to pass on your podcast.Read full review »

I am not a sports fan and I listened to Hang Up and Listen JUST for Mike. Now I’ll still listen to HUAL but I don’t have to. We’ve got The Gist and it’s great. I believe Plotz when he says it’s his “current” favorite. The best it, every day it gets better. Thanks.

My favorite new podcast. I've been tracking this guy for a while with his NPR segments or filling-in as host on radio shows here and there but this is his first show all his own and it's a home run. Funny, informative, opinionated, he's a great way to spend 22 minutes.Read full review »

I Iike the word gist, great name for the distilled dose of what's going on. Mike Pesca is sharp, witty, sympathetic and has his eyes open to all that is around him.
