“I like Micah Hanks and his contributions to the field. He's a great writer and researcher. However, this podcast is:
20% His personal goings on and what's on the Gralien website
10% Banter with, catching up, and props to his crew (So and so's doing the audio..)
20% Transitions ("Coming up next," "Later in the show we'll talk to," etc.)
5% Reminiscing about interactions with other researchers
25% Random thoughts on news topics that have nothing to do with the paranormal
5% PSAs
10% News I've already received via CNN
5% Politics
10% Content
This podcast is two hours and should be 15 minutes for as much news and content is presented. Entertainers and comedians can talk about mundane news and items and make a great podcast. Micah is not an entertainer. He is a presenter of information. He should present news and information and make the news and information the center of the show, not him and what researcher he met where and what his opinion is of them and what conference he's going to next.
While I'm listening to the podcast I find myself thinking, "I should fast forward to an interesting part," and "What's the point?" and "Can we move onto a news story?" and "Next topic please."
I understand that I'm getting this for free, so I'm not complaining. I'm just hoping that a show that bills itself as the sister podcast to the great Mysterious Universe podcast could be more engaging and listenable. It's kind of a room temp gravy on overcooked white rice. I'd love juicy turkey sandwich with crackling bacon instead.”Read full review »
