“As a young person I was only in high school at the time of the Rob Ford scandal. As such, I did not obtain a lot of the details about the scandals and his time in office at that time. I have been listening to this podcast on the, possibly false, pretence that it would provide unbiased, complete information about Rob Ford. Although I am finding it informative and interesting, the 4th episode solidified for me that my hope for unbiased information will likely not come true in this podcast. A couple things I did not like about the episode were:
1. The story about Sarah Thomson’s account was no more than hearsay and was admitted by the host to be not corroborated. Why include this info when I am sure there is much more you could’ve used?
2. If the media had not already lost the trust of the people, why would Rob Ford be able to convince half the population that it was untrustworthy? This is very hard to believe that one mayor of the City of Toronto was able to breed the distrust of media on an international level, as implied by the relationship to Trump’s rhetoric.
Although at first I was excited and intrigued to hear out the story of Toronto’s most publicly discussed mayor, and although I will likely continue to listen to this podcast till the end, I will say that this latest episode has cast a lens on this series that everyone should be aware of. It is not a COMPLETE story of Rob Ford, and there is an agenda behind it. Just remember that while you listen to it.”
