“This is a very unique take, the sci-fi acpect is actually not integral to the story. Unlike some, I do not find it depressing, actually the guy is such an idiot i found it rather funny and assumed that was how it was intended.”

“Marla should have had some consequence for her behaviour. John was wrong to have an affair. His wife used John to get her education and now she's ignoring him to climb the ladder.
A lawyer should never be able to record any conversation.
