“Like the hosts of this podcast I was well into RPGs in the early 80s, living in North-West England. I was a couple of years younger than these guys but many of the people I played with were the same age as them - so the show brings back some very vivid memories and I played a lot of the scenarios, read a lot of the articles and came up against a lot of the issues that they refer to. I haven’t been involved since the late 80s, so it’s fascinating to find out what’s happening to the hobby now from the perspective of people whose experience was so similar to mine, and it’s been fantastic to realise that the evil empire of the East Midlands ultimately failed in its bid to destroy rpgs as a collective, creative, not-very-profitable practice; so I hope they’ll continue to cover the newest developments and the history of the hobby since the 1980s from their own unique perspective. The detailed excavation of the early-80s ‘first golden age’ is still fascinating, and it seems like there are still plenty of key games and individuals for future shows to cover: Pendragon, the underrated Maelstrom, Toon, Bunnies”
