The show goes from strength to strength
I happened across this podcast one day on Twitter and thought I'd just have a quick listen as I used to play RPG's back in the 80's. I was hooked from the start, Dirks style of delivery and the genuine love that he and his co-hosts Blythy and Ed have for the games is simply infectious. Over the last 2 weeks I have listened to most of the back catalogue, as well as supported them on Patreon. I may have also made a few purchases of games I used to own (back in the day) Who knows maybe I’ll actually start playing Runequest again and head for the Big Rubble But in the meantime I’ll just break open another pack of hobnobs and carry on listening to this fabulous show Addendum It’s been 18 months since I wrote the above review and I thought it was time to revisit it It’s fair to say this podcast has changed my life as it awoke a longing to get out my dice and play games again, and now I find myself part of a whole new community and with a larger group of friends than before. The community of people who listen to this show are all amazing, they are welcoming, kind and willing to help people who want to join the hobby. Over the last 18 months I have played multiple rpgs games, both face to face and online, I’ve attended events and I’m even running my own game, something that would have just been a pipe dream 2 years ago. I’ve also been introduced to many wonderful new games in that time all courtesy of this podcast. But the question you must be asking is how can a show that started out looking at old games from back in the day stay relevant, well it has because the show has also evolved. It still looks at older games but it also covers games the presenters are now playing and follows their journeys through role playing in the 21st century and this discovery is as exciting for the listener as it is for Dirk and co. I cannot recommend this show highly enough, it’s beautifully put together and is totally engaging But beware as you might find yourself buying lots of new things that you never knew you needed in your life, but hey that’s not a bad thing is it?Read full review »

I’ve been a follower since Ep1 and after catching up on a few episodes I had stashed away thought I’d chuck my 5* Dirks way. If you want to hear why D&D players are A#%^Holes or why playing RPGs back in the day was akin to Terry Waite’s extended hols then Dirk’s your man !! Love it

Listening to this podcast was like receiving a bolt of lightning directly to the head. A...Read full review »

This podcast is simplly terrific! If you are tired of podcasts with man-boys acting like children (or excessive sound effects and bumpers) while talking about old school games or D&D this is your podcast. Fun but not childish. Carefully thoughtful and simply produced. They are unique...Read full review »
