Making new friends
Over the last year, a time of solitary walks and limited fun, The Grognard Files has been an unalloyed joy. Dirk and Blythy’s easy style and engaging chat mean I now think of them as friends, despite only ever hearing their disembodied voices. They’re definitely the heart of a community - I joined their convention in the Spring and had a wonderful evening of online gaming. Great discussion of RPGs old and new. Huge affection for the pioneers of the genre and a nostalgia that has made me reflect on my entry to the hobby, why I went into the deep freeze for nearly 30 years and why it’s great to be back. I definitely owe both gents a few pints.
