Description
Episode 7 with Sophie Hood founder of Seoul Tonic.  Sophie recently won Gordon Ramsay’s first Australia’s “Food Star” series on Channel9 taking home $250,000 and 1 year of mentoring with Janine Allis founder of Boost Juice ⭐️ Seoul Tonic is a “before you drink” (anti-hangover) super-powered tonic made from the concentrate of two Korean Pears, a staple in Korean drinking culture for over 1000 years. We delve into her startup journey with Seoul Tonic and the challenges she faced with bringing a unique ancient concept from Korea to the Western world in the Australian market and how she met and formed an amazing relationship with her local pear farmer 🍐 All whilst working a full-time job at Red Bull. We also chat about some unique challenges they put her through on the “Food Star” series including collaborations with famous chef Matt Moran, Nick Kiorgios' probiotic drink Alive, Dairy Milk Chocolate, Chiko Roll, and Vegemite. Despite being on the chopping block a couple of times in the “grilling” she was able to persevere and take out the series top spot - which was no surprise as she was referred to as “The Next Janine Allis” early on in the show.
