I used to listen to The Happy Saver with enthusiasm and eagerness. However Ruth seems to have taken a nasty turn. She seems to be pushing her own agenda instead of embracing what works for them. On top of this she advocates paying off your student loan and securing a place to live first. Horrible advise. Student loans are interest free and while an extra $20 a week may help, having stable accommodation far outweighs paying of some minor interest free debt. This woman has gone from logical and coherent to judgemental and frankly downright rude. I listened to her last podcast a month ago where she undressed her ‘niece’ for not paying off her student loan and investing her money where she will get a far better return. It’s a real shame that a NZ PODCAST has taken such a turn, Ruth will shame and slam you for any route that isn’t hers! I highly recommend you don not listen as you will finish feeling inadequate and god forbid focus on providing a solid financial future before paying for student loans. RUTH, check yourself. Being arrogant and disrespectful aren’t personality traits.

I’ve learned so much listening to these podcasts, about investment, saving, KiwiSaver etc. it’s hard to find good finance info tailored to NZ, so I was glad to come across this podcast.
