A wonderful stop for political perspectives
David Herle is a campaign strategist/manager who discusses Canadian politics in large part, so the Herle Burly is often best understood by Canadian listeners who have a contextual understanding for political events that are going on, or have gone on, around us. For them (us) it’s can’t-miss and the panels that include Scott Reid are especially enjoyable. David Herle interviews people insightfully and in depth while keeping things enjoyable and accessible, so even though interviewees come from a variety of ideological backgrounds, they’re interesting to listen to, rather than being like hired political pundit panels who appear on news broadcasts and have their team’s talking points to recite, which can drive viewers to madness - or at least they do for me. However, even for listeners who are not Canadian, David’s interviews are not exclusively of Canadian figures or about Canadian events. I’m especially fond of the interview he conducted with author Thomas Frank (March 30, 2018) which anyone can enjoy, and which provides an excellent window into US politics and the context for the 2016 election in particular; the result surprised a lot of people, but this interview goes a long way to help explain it. Highly recommend this show.

The genius of Robbie Robertson has frankly been underappreciated in his own country. David hsa very skillfully drawn out the essence and the stories. Great job!
