Gets Great, so Give it a Chance
This show starts off slowly but really gets into the exciting stuff around what they call the midseason (about episode 11). The lead-up is a good exploration of the characters and their normal world before everything turns upside-down. In this way it reminds me of TV shows like Fringe or Lost that tease the supernatural stuff for a while before really diving in (or like Wolf 359 that really becomes something different and better. This probably turns off people who would like the fantasy stuff that seems to be what the show is really about, so stick with it. The show also does things differently than a lot of the fiction podcasts I've heard. It has a narrator who is half telling the story and half commenting on it. It might seem weird or off-putting at first, but I can't imagine how they could do the crazy exciting action scenes in the later episodes without him. I imagine he will be important later since he is telling the story to other people in the present/future. And if you hate the narrator, he's barely in most of the episodes after the first one. Like maybe three lines sometimes. Some of them I don't even think he's in at all. And yeah, the intro song is whatever. I'm not buying the single, but I don't mind it. I certainly am not going to decide whether or not a podcast is good based on its theme song, and I usually just hit "forward 30" twice when it starts, and that takes you right to the end of it. Great acting, especially the lead and her brother. Awesome music, especially at episode 11 and onward. Those fight scenes are intense. This might be my favorite fiction podcast, but I'll reserve judgment until I've heard the whole story. It's also crazy long. I'm at episode seventeen of season one, and it's still going. It releases consistently and hasn't missed a release day yet. Honestly, this show feels more like a show I'm binging on Netflix than a podcast. Everyone should give it a chance.Read full review »

This podcast is ruined by the over the top hammy narrator. It’s so awful it renders what might actually have some emotional depth & resonance just cringe-worthy. Just stop with the narration.

I was almost too quick to judge the podcast but by episode 13 I was pleasantly impressed and involved with the characters dynamics and the story arch. I recommend and want to say thank you to the producers for the great show and the time they took to create this world, the music and the voice...Read full review »
