“I hate to admit it, but I'm completely addicted to this guy's podcast. There are some other great Chinese history podcasts out there (Lazlo Montgomery does a great job), but Chris nicely complements them with his detail-heavy no-stone-unturned narrative. I really crave minutia, and Chinese history is full of it. A lot of people like to gloss over these stories because they fear their audiences will get bored or overwhelmed with the homophonic names that clutter Chinese history. Chris does a good job with writing and narrating his podcasts with all the juicy tidbits that really should be talked up. Only Wikipedia articles on the subject go into more heavy detail. I find myself looking forward to every Sunday when he (usually) updates, and I can't wait until he gets to the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period.”Read full review »

“A solid narrative-history podcast on a topic on which many outside of China do not know so well. My only real problem with it is simply that its hard to keep track with the narrative some times, due to the alien nature of most Chinese names to my ear. But that sort of goes with the territory.”
