He has done an admirable job unraveling the complex events of the Sixteen Kingdoms and Southern and Northern dynasties, periods of Chinese history so convoluted that most textbooks simply skip over them. I particularly like his effort to remark on contemporaneous events happening in Europe and elsewhere in the world. He brings a sense of humor to his lively narrative, making this podcast thoroughly enjoyable. A rare gem!”
