“As an avid horror fan, I thought this concept was novel. But the execution leaves my ears hurting. The three hosts seem to each have a role. The first host seems to be the one that is guiding the podcast and keeping it on track. But they go off on so many irrelevant tangents and he seems powerless to get it back on track. He does try to add interest and depth to the actual movie being discussed which is good. The second host who is the horror virgin is very loud and misogynistic. Seemingly unaware of how demeaning to women he is throughout the podcast including his co-host who never calls him out and just gives him these annoying “awwwws” for some reason. He’s just hard to listen to. The female host does add some interesting tidbits and research but gets quickly derailed by the others. I’ve heard her mention some feminist issues, but then I hear her say some really toxic things herself and I’m at work listening like “what?!?” She said something in the last episode that I won’t repeat that if I had heard a male say, I would have thrown up in my mouth, but to hear a woman say it in this context basically gives female approval to the other hosts’ misogynistic tone which goes unchecked.
Often it’s difficult to hear or listen because they are laughing at their own jokes and talking over one another. And the humour is just sophomoric and toxic in many ways. If you are pubescent teen boy, then you’d probably love listening to these guys. But otherwise, I’d recommend other horror podcasts to get your fix. I gave it several episodes, and it progressively got worse.”
