“Razib Khan and Spencer Wells deliver a strong podcast about genomics and ancient DNA. Spencer, with his magisterial documenterian's voice, takes care of a lot of the interviewing and simplification for a lay audience. Khan is the more excitable and scientifically-focused of the two; he enjoys plunging into topics that are fascinating but sometimes difficult for a newcomer.
Their shows have so far touched a range of topics; the most common are discoveries in ancient DNA and the applications of personal genomics. Wells and Khan have also interviewed some scientists about human evolution.
I come from Razib Khan's blog, so I am very familiar with (and pleased by) his approach to things. However, I gave the podcast four stars because I am not sure how accessible some of its ideas are to the uninitiated. I have found it easy to keep up by reading Razib's blog and going through books like The 10,000 Year Explosion.”Read full review »
