EP232: Her Journey to Healing Sexual Trauma
Listen now
Description
Victims of rape and sexual assault grow up with the event haunting them later in their adult lives. The trauma usually manifests in their relationship and their attitude towards sexuality.   Getting out of sexual trauma is difficult: “One in three will commit suicide, one in three will go mad, and one in three will wake up and heal the world."   These are the words of Erika Briones. This is how she describes the possible outcomes of someone who’s gone through the horrible experience of being a victim of sexual abuse at a young age. Erika went through all these phases and she will tell us all about it.   Eriko Briones is a sexual confidence coach who helps her clients go through relationship issues and sexual concerns. As a result of her own sexual trauma, she developed and curated a technique that allows her clients to get out of their heads and into their bodies.   Erika and I tried to retrace how her life played out and led to the path that she took today. Topics we chatted about include: The narrative of her life which she decides to call as the ‘Return of the Joyful Little Girl’ and its three main story arcs. (03:10) One in three will commit suicide: Her suicide phase, bad relationships, and the ‘I will be happy when—’ syndrome. (13:16) One in three will go mad: Being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. (16:04) One in three will wake up: A new beginning that led her to a path of growth and development (18:00) How the year 1993 become pivotal in her life and the events that transpired which robbed her of her joy. (05:11) Threat, fear, and the power-abuse dynamics that played in Erika’s life. (08:44) Being introduced to sex work, and ending up as an escort despite her sexual trauma. (14:02; 34:35) How a sex party served as the catalyst towards her growth and healing, and how her past experience became the fuel to her fire to help other people. (21:24) Talking to our parents about sex. (33:12) What it means to fuse tantra and BDSM in her coaching, and what Leonardo Da Vinci has to do with it. (38:12) The various approaches and modalities involved in her coaching and healing method. (44:52) Her brand, the community, and exclusive content she provides to her clients and followers. (51:11) If you’re going through some rough times, going mad or contemplating suicide, I hope Erika’s story inspired you to tap into your inner self towards healing.
