Description
In this episode we talk to Dr. Lisa Marie Bobby, a licensed marriage and family therapist, a board certified coach, and the founder and clinical director of Growing Self Counseling & Coaching. She’s the author of Exaholics, Breaking Your Addiction to an Ex Love, and is the host of the Love Happiness and Success podcast. We talk about the common things Lisa sees in marriages with problems and the potential pitfalls couples face. Many people will begin to feel frustrated their partner isn’t contributing to the relationship enough, or doing their part and trouble in marriage usually stems from fear, frustration, or anger. Adam and Rosie talk about the things they’ve done or experienced with one another that have created problems in their marriage and things they’ve done to remedy their marriage problems. Dr. Lisa tells us about things couples must experience and that marriage therapy doesn’t have to be something that happens when the marriage is on the brink of destruction, but something that should be sought when things in your marriage aren’t quite where you want them to be. She mentions that many men feel marriage counseling will be a bad experience where the counselor will be siding with their wife and they’ll be called out on the negative things the husband does, but marriage counseling is actually nothing like that. It’s a place where everyone can just open up and calmly discuss any issues the couple is facing, getting to the core of unhappiness in marriage.
