Learning about the story behind musicians enriches the enjoyment of their music. I like this reporting style. Hoping to see a comeback in 2024!

Just listened to the Neil Young podcast. It was full of rants from fans and artists about their thoughts on Neil Young, oh and a snippet with Richard Kingsmill. No back stories, a few songs played in the background and that’s it. Nobody cares what Joe Bloggs thinks about these artists. Multiple...Read full review »

Sum 41? Cribs? Riot grrrl? 80s alternative (Go-Betweens, Stems?) INTERPOL???? if any of these bands/movements broke in Australia I’d love to get the full gist.

... in an awesome way. If your mind is even remotely open to great tunes from any period, Caz Tran nails it every time. A must.

Unbelievably informative and insightful program about the process and experience of successful artists. None better than Phillipe Zdar.

Some of them not sure if it was even worth the effort, either too short or no substance. Sinead”s was superb, she’s amazing 10/10 Triple J

I love these but I want to listen to the full 2 hours not just 15 minute tasters

would love the concept but not funny or informative. Great Satire has to come from some kind of appreciation. This is ignorant clickbait. Went into it with an open mind but it’s just not worth the one or two funny lines you might get to have to listen to two completely uniformed kids talk about...Read full review »

Great podcast. I always wish they were longer and a bit more detailed. Blondie was an icon and the band influential. Whenever I hear Blondie I always go to the Ramones next.

Incredible insight and context on the greatest musicians of our time, all delivered with a typical Aussie humor and style. A great listen every week.

Always learn so much from the J Files! The depth of knowledge and access to artists is amazing. Love it.

This is not the J Files, I learn nothing except what fans think - who cares!

I’m loving hearing from the artist in the last few episodes

Would love to hear this week’s or last week’s but this podcast takes much longer to be uploaded than other J content. Great podcast but disappointingly slow.

Love the idea and breadth of artists. But it feels like a radio show full of up next, coming very soon, and before that. It’s a podcast. The listener is in control. Looking at other reviews, a bit less foreshadowing and a bit more music (or artists talking.

Prefer the more recent format, but a few songs would be good in there. Love the historical archive interviews. Definitely learn something & often scribbling down artists to follow up afterwards!

One of my favourites. Great insights into some truely great bands. Some more episodes on seminal Aussie acts would be sweet as. Hint, hint. Masters Apprentices

Loving the J Files but missing the long version. The presenters enthusiasm is completely infectious. Favorite part is the material from the archives, so real gems there.

Loving all the content from early millennia, especially The Shins episode. I fell in love with Garden State and the Shins simultaneously along with thousands of others. Nostalgia central of my formative teen years. Thinking a Panda Bear ep in honour of Person Pitch's 10th anniversary could go...Read full review »

I used to love the J Files Podcast (I still do) but the new format with no music at all is really missing something! Yes, it was frustrating that the previous format only had brief music clips but it was better than nothing. By at least being able to hear 20 or 30 seconds of a song it really...Read full review »

J-Files are an institution. But playing with only very brief song snippets really spoils it. Probably some licensing reasons I assume, but it makes the experience poor, especially when not familiar with the bands.
MF_____ via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 05/28/15
So this would be a great podcast but the music clips are cut waaay too short. I'm not sure if it's licensing or time restrictions but if it is for time could I suggest editing the live dj part, reading tweets etc instead of not playing whole songs.Read full review »
