In a 2018 bloomberg.com article, it states, "It doesn’t take much investment to make a tiny market boom, and the total value of the 37 stocks in the main Jamaica index is less than $11 billion, smaller than the valuation of Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc." But does size really matter and how can we work with our neighbours in ensuring that we create a bigger market for our investors? This week we travel virtually across the waters to delve into the topic, "Bringing Cayman and Jamaica Stock Market closer – Creating a bigger Market for Investors." Jermaine Deans, Managing Director, JN Cayman is my guest today.
Some of what we looked at were:
What makes the island investable?
What would that look like taking into consideration culture, language and other factors that are unique to each island in the region?
What makes investing in the region attractive?
And lots more.
