It's Season 3 of “The Jamaica Stock Exchange & You Podcast,” and I am your host, I'm Heneka Watkis-Porter. Time can go by so quickly because it seems like just yesterday that we launched this podcast and here is Season 3. Anyways, The Jamaica Stock Exchange is the principal stock exchange of Jamaica and is one of the largest stock exchanges in the Caribbean by size and market capitalization.
The JSE Group has evolved over time into a strong and reputable business, a force to be reckoned with, not just in Jamaica nor the region globally being recognized as the world's best performing stock exchange on more than 1 occasions. Notwithstanding its size and impact, the leadership will be the first to declare that it is not because of their effort alone. The JSE enjoys the support of organizations and persons both locally and abroad to assist it in carrying out its mandate of the mobilization of capital to facilitate the growth and development of companies and by extension the Jamaican economy.
Today, Consulate General Alsion Roach-Wilson joins me to talk about the Diaspora Support for the Jamaica Stock Exchange Group. Welcome Consul General Roach-Wilson.
Some of what we looked at were:
In what ways can the Consulate General New York increase Diaspora support for the Jamaica Stock Exchange in the United States?
What can members of the Diaspora do to actively engage the JSE from overseas?
You have assisted the Jamaica Social Stock Exchange during the earlier part of COVID-19 by way of the Tablet and Laptop Initiative, how can the Diaspora help to expand on this beyond this project?
And lots more.”
