Entertaining and enlightening
I discovered this pod during the harshest moments of the pandemic, and since then it's been my companion during walks, runs or doing house chores. I really enjoy listening to this podcast. The guests are diverse but always interesting and - at least compared to other hiking podcasts I've heard - Doc does a really good job at letting them share who they are and what they're passionate about. In a few words, the podcast is about the guests, not the host. Clearly, this is because Doc takes the time to research his guests and always has questions ready for them. I also like the length of the episodes (over an hour, perfect for a long run or a slog up a mountain), and the (few) regular features: pro tip of the week, must bring gear review. Even if I'm based far far away from the Sierras, or the US at that, I find that most conversations touch on universal themes that can appeal to outdoor enthusiasts worldwide. Plus, the guests are so often memorable and funny! Keep up the good work, Doc!Read full review »

Doc does an amazing job interviewing his guests in a way that flows nicely, and his guests are always very interesting. It’s everything from thru hiking, rock climbing to trail running. Seriously the best pod out there for any trail or mountain enthusiasts. — Joey @trailjunction
