Engaging and Enraging
Have enjoyed and recommended a couple of Serial Production’s podcasts: seasons one and three. Two episodes into Rutherford County, and I’m hooked. I live in Tennessee and taught HS in an urban school for many, many years; am much aware of inequity in juvenile justice. Thank you.

This is so trivial, but I was quickly annoyed with the narrator slowly frying her voice. Great story, a story I would rather hear a Black person tell. I’m not sure I can finish the season. It’s a podcast, so storytelling, voice and enunciation is part of the story, so it’s hard to get past that.

I want to continue listening but I’m struggling with the narration. Flat delivery with vocal fry and dragging the end of each sentence. Great journalism, stop with the fry.

Everything is jaded from Serial Productions. You have to keep that in mind when you listen to any of it.
