I really like this podcast. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that they incarcerated all of those poor kids. How could justice Davenport call the video egregious.I love the story and thank goodness for all of the people who stood up for the kids. 🙃

Loved the podcast, thought it was well done. Maybe I am more tolerant, or busier doing other things while listening, but I think the narrator is good.

Unbearable narration. What a waste of the journalism.

Interesting topic, but horrible narrator.

I agree with what most every reviewer has talked about. Please choose your narrators wisely. I love Serial Productions. Let Sarah narrate!!!!! ;)

I wish someone else would narrate this great story. But I had to stop listening on account of the narrator’s voice. Vocal burn is contrived, it’s not natural.

I listened to the first episode and couldn’t bear the thought of listening to the rest of the episodes because of the irritating voice narrating the podcast. It’s interesting to see from other reviews that I’m not alone. I also note from other reviews that apparently this is a sexist remark! No...Read full review »

The topic is compelling and interesting. However, the way the narrator draws out her last word is extremely distracting. She speaks ‘normally’ in other areas, so hopefully she can correct this. It would be an amazing podcast.

The vocal fry and the inflection at the end of each sentence is maddening. By ep 3 I resorted to read the transcript for each episode so I could find out what happened with this topic.
Momof2Boys115 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/22/24
So interested in the story but I cannot get through the delivery. Trailing inflection with so much affected vocal fry… it makes the narrator seem superior or uninterested or both.

I really really wanted to enjoy this. The story is interesting, but the vocal fry stopped me after the first episode. I’ve never had an issue with vocal fry before, but this host literally gave me a headache listening to her. I would love to listen to this podcast if someone else could...Read full review »

Ugh
Would love to listen to this but I cannot stand the way the host talks.

I saw all the reviews on how exasperatingly awful the vocal fry is but I assumed they had to be somewhat inflated for effect. I was wrong. It truly is difficult to listen to. The narrator sounds like a character in an SNL skit of a podcast parody. I am amazed nobody involved with the production...Read full review »

This was a story I was interested in listening to but, I’m so sorry to say, the narrator’s vocal fry and downward inflection at the end of every sentence/thought was too much for me. I couldn’t get through the first episode, it was too distracting.

I really enjoyed this story. It was well researched and laid out. However, the voice of the narration was really hard to listen to. Just rough.

This was a great series but it’s a struggle to go through the speaking narrative.
iwkakaka via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/02/24
I just had to surrender in the middle of episode 2. The content is moving and the interviewees are extremely knowledgeable. But the vocal fry on the journalist has officially driven me mad. I think some vocal coaching would do her well! She has a great knack for storytelling, maybe just not in...Read full review »

I love this story. I found this story enthralling but rather than binge the series I had to take breaks from the narration style. Maybe it’s just me; perhaps I’m being ticky tacky but, the way the narrator drags out ends of words and phrases is extremely distracting. I’m noticing this more and...Read full review »

Really enjoyed the storyline but the vocal fry in the narration was very hard to listen to.

This story was very well researched and reported. As others have mentioned, the vocal fry of the narrator is pretty distracting. Would be 5 stars otherwise.

The story is so interesting but I am having a hard time concentrating because the vocal fry on the host is unbearable. This must be a newer generation thing. I wish podcast hosts would knock this off. She’s not the only one.
Miabkr via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/13/24
Such an interesting topic to produce a podcast on too bad the hosts dragging of words (vocal fry) is almost insufferable! Who produced all these episodes and didn’t notice this was a problem?! Cringe!

Although I found the story intriguing and, in fact, infuriating, the tone of the narrator’s voice grated and irritated me. Poor coaching? Poor producing? Poor editing?
SLOLisaCA via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/06/24
The story is riveting and the storytelling is excellent. The only thing that detracts from the podcast is the vocal fry the host Meribah Knight has. It’s distracting but I soldiered on because of how good the podcast is overall.

I'm finding the story very interesting but the narration is driving me crazy. It's distracting me from the content. It would be a good idea to get a voice coach before your next podcast. I would rather read a transcript than listen to the podcast.Read full review »

I love podcasts like this but couldn’t bear more than a minute of the narrator’s vocal style. She sounded cocky and just really annoying.

The story is good but the vocal fry is so hard to not hear. She needs to listen to herself.

I’m only 3 episodes in but I’m already flabbergasted by the injustices discussed in this podcast. The vocal fry really isn’t as much of a problem as other reviews would have you believe. Even if it is, this podcast’s too important to miss.

Great subject, really wanted to hear Wes’ victory come to play. However it is taking all I have to get past the author’s dramatic vocal fry. For goodness sake just speak like a normal human! This podcast is compelling and well-researched. I can’t believe this is actually a true story. Disgusting that Donna Davenport was allowed to retire on her own terms and has faced zero consequences for the harm she caused to literal children.

This story is shocking and very upsetting. My heart breaks for those kids and families. The judge should face stiff consequences as she claims to believe in them so much. Not sure I’ll be able to finish this one due to narrator’s appalling drawl at the end of each sentence. Funnily enough she seems able to do the credits in a normal voice

I wanted to listen so bad to this series but the lady's voice made me nauseous. So sorry. What a great subject. Too bad the voice seemed trailing, bored? The fry added sarcasm almost? It is too earnest of a subject. I wish the narration matched the story. I’ll keep listening and trying. I was looking forward to this.
