Cook served as the assistant director on Kubrick's 'Barry Lyndon', 'The Shining' and 'Eyes Wide Shut', and would later go on to direct 'Color Me Kubrick' starring John Malkovich as Alan Conway, a man who posed as Kubrick during the production of his last film in order to gain social status. As an assistant director, Cook has collaborated with filmmakers as diverse as Brian De Palma, Sean Penn and Michael Cimino.
