15. What We Learned: Creating and Cancelling Our First Event with Emily Hill and Liana Wong
Description
On this episode, we are recapping some of the things we learned from planning our pop-up event that was supposed to take place during SXSW and also taking the chance to thank all the people who helped us plan it.
We want to also note that we recorded this episode before the covid-19 situation really started to escalate in the US, before any of us were advised to start social-distancing, before authorities in the Bay Area and other cities across the country started issuing shelter-in-place directives, and before things really started changing significantly in our communities. We give directions to support your local small businesses and those in Austin where SXSW and our event were to take place, for instance, which we still believe in…but we know things are changing literally daily right now our world. It’s a strange time. So please, follow what is going on in real-time and take directions from your local authorities, the WHO (https://www.who.int), and the CDC (https://www.cdc.gov). And please, be safe yourself and take care.
With that, we hope you enjoy this episode.
Some of the topics we discussed:
What we learned planning our pop-up
Event cancellations in the time of Covid-19, the novel coronavirus
Big thanks to everyone who helped us plan our event
