Some Good, Mostly Bad
JP’s impressions are hilarious and I could listen to a seven hour show of just impressions no problem. With that said though, I don’t think that makes a great podcast. The guys are huge marks for themselves. Some podcasts last seven hours, but don’t let that fool you into thinking they’re spending seven hours talking about wrestling. Sometimes they spend more time plugging their e-mail and podcast as a whole than they do talking about the show they're covering. While JP’s impressions are funny, I don’t like anything else about him. He’s very quick to wish death on wrestlers who don’t perform to his standards, and his sense of humour is sometimes just too morbid. I can tolerate immaturity and being inappropriate but I never finished their BatB96 episode because of a disgusting joke JP made about the Benoit family. JP also has a habit of stuttering and speaking before he thinks, which leads to awkward moments of dead air. If they edited out every time one of his points resulted in unintelligible nonsense the podcasts would probably run an hour shorter. I wish Jack would cut him off more often. The deep dive isn’t something unique to TLF. Every wrestling review podcast does it, and a lot of them have a lot less time to work with and still do it better. I learned far more about Wrestlemania 9 watching OSW’s review of it than I did listening to TLF’s, for example. TLF feels very overproduced at times. I doubt Jack or JP edit the episodes, and if they weren’t making money I doubt they’d still be doing the podcast. Again, these guys are no OSW. Audio is shaky because the two guys aren’t in the same room when they’re recording. No podcast that’s monetised should ever be done over Skype. Overall this isn’t anything special.Read full review »

Jack, a validictorian, has all of the fascinating history and insider information you could ever want about the...Read full review »
