Leaving/Left Christianity? Listen to this podcast!
I didn’t even realize HOW GREAT (wow, just typing those words bring things up, ha!) this podcast was when I first found it. I’m not a huge podcast listener (in fact, this is definitely the first review I’ve ever written, and may be the last), so when I stumbled onto this GEM (totally a God thing, y’know?!?), I figured there would be a ton of others of comparable quality out there...I’ve since realized - there are NOT. You’d probably get a good idea of the show premise by reading any other review, so I think I’m gonna stick to a couple things that I think set it apart. 1) The quality is really high from episode 1 - great guests/topics/writing, a great (musical) “theme,” really good editing (there are a couple things here and there, but for a brand new show, it’s really impressive). 2) It’s HILARIOUS. I don’t even know if they realize it, but the tone of the show (sometimes serious when necessary, but mostly lighthearted, satirical, sarcastic) helps makes FREEDOM feel even more FREE. So many things that we were taught growing up in conservative Christianity WERE just so LAUGHABLE, and having others affirm that over and over (I feel like I’m saying, “oh my god, yes!” every couple minutes) is extremely therapeutic. 3) It’s SO SINCERE! They’re not making money off this - at least not yet, but I hope that changes. They’re doing it to help others in need. Which leads me to my last point...4) Community. In less than a year, this podcast has already created a thriving community/support group of others going through the same “deconstruction.” So grateful for The *Life After!

Religion is complicated. Leaving religion is doubly so. When I was leaving Christianity it felt like I was by myself. I didn’t have anyone to talk to about it. None of my new non-religious friends could relate to decades of gaslighting, church services and religious education I went through. So...Read full review »

After losing my religion I searched for a podcast to help me cope with my leftover angst with no avail. Religion left me scarred and I needed a place to turn to and to hear from others who had made it to the other side. Thankfully, one now exists!
