I am listening to episode 1, and the subject is interesting, of course, but I find myself greatly put off by the repeated use of “caliphate” where “caliph” would be the correct term.

Please check the proper names and name of places, they are often mispronounced! All in all it’s a good podcast

Monotone narration style makes it difficult to listen to. Script sounds like it’s AI generated. Pronunciation is off on most non-Western names.

The narrator does not appear to be Iranian. I can look past the pronunciation of Iranian names or locations. But,loop she can't pronounce some basic English words. Caucusus is not 'Cokoosus'. Allies is not 'alleys.'Read full review »

The butchering of the Persian names is very distracting. Otherwise the content is very interesting. It should not be that hard to find improve the pronunciation of the Persian proper names.

Less than 15 mins into this podcast, speaking about a tobacco concession sold to Talbot in the 1890s, the narrator says “in February of 1981” which is off chronologically about 90 years. Not a great editing job.

Good info, amateurish production.

Iranian words, names, and places are mispronounced and, to be blunt, butchered. This is distracting and a major flaw, I think. I don’t think it would have been hard to get a native narrator or at least, attempt to learn and pronounce correctly

Not done by professional historians, which for me is a plus. I know so little about Iran, and this podcast is full of great information. There are only a few episodes up now, but I hope they continue. Great job, Oriana and team!

Very interesting, good content but the ai narration is hard to take. Many words are misspoken or wrong tense.

Enjoying learning about the history of Iran. It’s mind blowing how the war between the state and religion inside Iran and the war between the Russians and the British over control of Iran has been going on for the past several centuries without much change!

I have assigned listening to this excellent podcast to my students for extra credit. Students listen, research and present to classmates. We are learning so much together. Thank you, Dr. GC

The history is fascinating, not something I’d have been particularly interested in before stumbling across this podcast. It’s nicely narrated, calm and ad free. Looking forward to more!

Fascinating history of Iran, condensed out of necessity to the most recent 200 years. There is very little in the way of soundscape, music, sound track, or other aural effects. It’s simple a reading of text, executed very well. This is a low budget operation, but the simple approach is...Read full review »
