LW 52: Lyn Jones - The early years
Listen now
Description
Our guest this week is former Director of Rugby, Lyn Jones.    In this episode we get to hear about Lyn's journey in rugby up until his time with London Welsh.  Where did he develop his love of the game and then playing for Neath in the 80's with Brian Thomas as Head Coach.  We chat about his move to Llanelli, the trophies he won and getting capped by Wales.  We understand a bit about Lyn the business man and the transition to player coach at Treorchy RFC.  Lyn went to coach Neath RFC in the mid 90's, just as rugby turned professional and explains the challenges this had for many clubs.  Lyn was well placed to take us through the transition to regional rugby and his role leading the Ospreys to Magners League success and how Wales benefitted from a strong Ospreys as Warren Gatland took the reigns.  This episode finishes with Lyn taking us through his time teaching at a school in Abu Dhabi.
