“What rubbish. Fullilove has led this institute into echo-chambering hackery. For instance: COVIDcast 8: Covid & the WHO. The interviewer asks 'what are the issues?', to which the interviewee provides the conclusion 'it's Trump's fault, he's scapegoating'. No challenge follows, just a move to detailing the consequences of Trump's fault. Only much later is there some tangential deliberation, to the effect of; 'it's unfortunate that politics have interferred with Taiwan's participation'. No similar stridency to that reserved for the US - no straightforward 'China was wrong in 2016 to exclude Taiwan from observer status with the WHO'. Just euphemisms and apologies from this interview, with one rule for China and a different rule for the US, because, of course, the WHO can't decline to propagandise on behalf of China (or, perish the thought, offend China) or they'll be nasty.
I don't need Lowy to tell me how odious is Trump, but if you wish to say so, apply the same standards to all, because it's not as though Xi isn't odious in his own way also.
As for Fullilove's comments in recent podcasts about a diminished perspective of the US should they re-elect Trump, why not apply some scrutiny into why so many Americans would prefer Trump - for all his manifest limitations and utterly wretched character - over the alternatives.
