A lifeline
I'm a pastor in an area that's pretty rural, and largely conservative; the spectrum basically goes from far right to centrist liberal. It's interesting to be speaking and working in such a position for a diehard on the left - and I have a chance to speak to some places others aren't speaking, with perspectives that can be generally new. But aside from occasional calls with friends from college or in cities, Twitter, and a few other places, I can feel a bit separate from The Discourse (tm). And even those connections can read as an entirely separate way of life, unconnected to the work I'm doing in a church. This podcast keeps the ideas rolling, churning, giving me new ways that my leftist ideals and Christian commitments can ricochet off each other, in a world and context that often sees that connection as bizarre or impossible. This podcast isn't perfect, but it's indispensible.Read full review »

I decided to become punk this summer and took up skateboarding as a grown ass man. Quickly I realized I couldn’t ever be truly punk if I wasn’t a leftist. Now I listen to the Magnificast while I skateboard around town. I think I’m nearly punk now. 5/5 stars, would listen again.
