Excellent and very well researched
This podcast is a real pleasure to listen to. He explains everything extremely well and doesn't rush through the information. I especially liked the "Old Money: The Uluburun and Gelidonya Wrecks" episode, it gives you a real sense of how the martime trading worked. He also has several supplemental episodes, of which " The Periplus of the Erythraean Sea" is my favorite - this is the actual text of a manuscript the mariners would take with them to guide them when sailing from one port to another. I have learned alot from this podcast, and it was fun at the same time!Read full review »

Brandon does such an incredible job. He speaks very clearly and at a measured pace: not too fast, or too slow. Highly recommended!!

This is a very well organized and interesting podcast. Brandon Huebner has done a great job not only explaining the origins of sailing, but also places that information in the greater context of world history. Not an easy thing when you are starting at the dawn of civilization.

Another great history podcast, well-researched and competently recorded. If I had any suggestion at all to make this podcast even better, I might suggest a seaworthy music bed for under any introductory notes before the show begins. Will listen again!
