“I've read several of Tucker Max's books and I know of Geoffrey Miller, author of The Mating Mind. Upon hearing of this podcast, I was excited to check it out.
I initially expected to hear Tucker and Geoffrey riff on all sorts of mating phenomenon, with Tucker speaking for the anecdotal end and Geoffrey speaking for the theoretical and empirical ends -- and part of me hopes that Mating Grounds will incorporate this structure. Rather, the podcast appears to be an interview series, with a guest academic joining Tucker to explore many of the theoretical and empirical aspects of human mating. The interviews are very informative, and there are sporadic moments in which Tucker reminds you he is Tucker Max. I have not listened to the third and fourth episodes in their entirety, but there is a definite pick-up in levity as Tucker acclimates to the podcast format.
In terms of self-improvement, specifically for males who are trying to figure out how to grow into some success with women, don't be put off by the academic nature of some of the interviews. Skip what you find boring. In Episode I, there is little to take away in terms of material for self-improvement. In contrast, in Episode II, the conversation is largely directed at males who are in a phase of self-discovery. The same goes for Episode III. Overall, the nature of the episodes seems to be largely contingent on the personality and expertise of the guest. I would imagine as the series progresses, the quality and consistency in this area will improve.
For those males looking to grow their success with women, if they are looking for the secrets to being Tucker Max, they will be disappointed. There are only a handful of people who can be "Tucker Max." To provide an analogy, were Shaquille O'Neal to offer a podcast for aspiring centers, it would be a bit ridiculous for his audience to think they would learn how to become just like Shaq. Crucially, Tucker realizes this. And so, over the episodes, Tucker and his guests provide insights that are generalizable and useful on a broad level.
Overall, this is a great find, and I look forward toward to listening to new episodes.”Read full review »

“I am not joking, this stuff is the bomb. I have not read anywhere else any other professional or intelligent opinions on this topic. I think part of it's success is the delivery, where Tucker and who ever he has on, just takes the real facts of 'mating grounds' and breaks it down for the 21st...”Read full review »

“What more can you ask for? My favorite part about this podcast is that Tucker always manages to tie in the guest's advice with the audience, something that other informative podcasts fail to do. You've hit the nail on the head, Tucker. Keep up the good work!”Read full review »
