“I read the book. Started the practice in the mirror by myself. Then out of habit started randomly high 5ing my coworkers who struggle to speak the main language in my country. These high 5s have now turned into hugs.
When I was a teenager I thought high 5s were dumb. But, now I’m certain a simple high 5 to yourself or anyone else is an act of love, appreciation and acceptance.
I was at a Target store today. A little boy shopping with his dad high 5’ed me (the reason I’m writing this now). I smiled, and asked what the high 5 was for. The boy said, “It’s just cool and more funner to make people happier”. I could not agree more. I literally get tiny hits of dopamine when I compliment others and see their reactions. A high 5 to yourself can do that too.
Love this podcast. Love yourself.”
