Murders, yes. Norman Bates (as she references), no.
My reaction to the first episode was a strong distaste for the way Dr. Michelle Ward portrayed the case. I do not contend that the perpetrator is a seriously f*d-up individual who belongs in prison, but he didn’t sound like the fascinating psychopath (à la Norman Bates) that she seemed to want him to be. He just sounded like a sad, lost, drunken waste of humanity. It’s not terribly hard to imagine similar cases going unnoticed at a rate that would horrify us.

Bad interviews with a grating host.
