“Although this podcast appeared well researched and articulated in a coherent manner, I was extremely offended by the narrator's constant editorial comments. The episode I am referring to is about a young professional woman who was mentally ill. According to the narrator, her parent's brutal treatment of her drove her to the brink of insanity so that it was all their fault when she committed crimes of violence. The woman and her parents, by the way, were of a different culture. If I am accustomed in my culture to obeying my parents when I live under their roof or if my parents who have financially supported me throughout my entire life, even paying for higher education, want to borrow money out of my bank account which they control because my mental illness makes me irresponsible with money, that apparently makes me a brutal parent. Asking my mentally ill daughter to be home at a decent hour is abusive. I listen to podcasts for an objective narrator who is conveying the facts of a case not passing judgement on people he has never met or been a part of their culture. If I sound angry, I am. I was so deeply offended by all of the narrator's, "Can you imagine the horror and degradation she felt after being asked to come home at a decent hour?" comments that stopped listening. I was so angry that I not only stopped listening but I deleted the entire podcast. I'll listen to somebody else's podcast who is not so judgmental and overly dramatic. Walk in someone else shoes or culture or family before you tell me how terrible mine is.”Read full review »
