“The Musical Man is the third entry in Jon Pernisek's podcast oeuvre and is by far the one you'd most likely to recommend to your seventy year old parents, which isn't to say that this podcast doesn't have a tinge of that classic "How Rude!" raunch. Despite often being very, very funny, Jon takes you to musical theater school with robust plot and song breakdowns. (He did an *excellent* job deconstructing one of my favorite musicals, Caroline, or Change.) It's amazing that each week he listens to cast recordings, watches film adaptations, researches trivia, pulls sound clips, records the pod, edits the pod, publishes the pod--every. single. week. I know he doesn't do it alone (much love to Patty!) but Jon is clearly pouring his Broadway-sized heart and soul into every episode and golly gee whiz bang it sure does show. If you're a devotee of The Great White Way, and you're not listening to The Musical Man, then what are you even doing with your life?”Read full review »
