Well done, learned an absolute ton!
Well done, Mr. Koebel, I am only at episode 4 but am Seriously Impressed. The school history curriculum, or what my kids like to call “corn, squash and beans studies” lacks the dynamism and complexity that you have added. As keen watchers and listeners of horrible histories, the UK based history books and tv series, we grossly underestimate childrens’ understanding of nuance and complexity. I have been deeply uncomfortable with the simplistic victim/oppressor portrayal of Canada’s story for some time. History must be viewed as comparative and whilst I enjoy Canadian history I would love to have Japanese, Ottoman or Russian history taught in schools for real insight into how things can be so different. Whilst so many are dismantling, unpacking and destroying I applaud you for considering, joining the dots and constructing.

An excellent, ambitious, detailed and balanced walk through Canadian history. One of the best history podcasts that I’ve found anywhere.

Informative and entertaining. I have learned more about the founding of my native land from this podcast than I ever did in twelve years of school. A great thirty minutes every week. Highly recommended.
