Conversational Geology
I found this podcast after stumbling onto Nick’s Geology 101 videos. I think part of what makes him so enjoyable to listen to is that he makes the podcast feel more like a conversation WITH you rather than AT you, like so many over-produced “professional” podcasts do (I’m talking to you BBC, NPR). He rambles, goes on tangents, fumbles around in his thoughts in the fly, but in a way that brings you along with him on his intellectual journey. His episodes don’t have the condescending “lecture” feel, but then neither do his lectures. He always comes across as a warm, welcoming, neighborly fella who you’d want to sit down with for a cup of coffee and shoot the bull, except there’s no bull, just millions of years of geological grandeur. And even though he is unashamedly Washington-centric he enriches my drives around western Missouri and helps me look at the landscape with new eyes, a new curiosity and a desire to know more.

Nick..... I make it to the end. That is if I have time to listen to begin with. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten to listen to all of them yet. I enjoy them. Carla
