Many Promise, Few Deliver
I listen to a huge number of podcasts. I feel anxious if I suspect I haven't at least vetted them *all*. Without question, Nosleep is consistently the very finest of English-language short fiction podcasts, in any genre. Sound quality is impeccable from the first episode, the readers are excellent on average and occasionally stunningly apt for their material, the host's eerily serene persona is perfect for the theme. THE STORIES are exemplary of how modern writers can achieve excellence in their craft through review and online community. Most taglines invoking insomnia and terror are just pretenders. After you've sampled a few of the "things I forgot about my childhood" treats, though, I suspect that you will regard the potential of this medium and fiction in general in a surprising, yet subtle way… you may very will wish you had not been exposed to this new perspective. Beware Nosleep - and call your mom; ask her some hard questions.Read full review »
